NEW ‘BERTRAM EUROPE’ DIVISION TO OPEN SOON TO BUILD BERTRAM YACHTS IN ITALY

La Spezia, 20th April 2022The legendary American brand Bertram, specializing in the construction of sport fisherman yachts, owned by the Gavio family and part of the Baglietto Group since 2015, lands in Europe. A new Bertram division will soon be operating at Baglietto’s site in Marina di Carrara for the construction and sale of Bertram yachts in Italy and in Europe.

The decision to start producing in Italy was based on the will to meet the huge demand for Bertram yachts among enthusiasts in the Old Continent and will by no means affect the DNA of the brand, which will remain entirely ‘Made in USA’. As underlined by Chairman Beniamino Gavio, “Bertram remains a 100% American product – some components will indeed be imported directly from the US -, but we are convinced that all pre-requisites are in place to meet the needs of those European clients who have always appreciated stylish, versatile, and charming yachts that also deliver outstanding marine performances”.

“The tradition of Bertram products, their history and their heritage – adds Baglietto’s CEO Diego Michele Deprati – perfectly harmonise with Baglietto’s own history. Both are iconic brands, which have built their world-class quality and their success on seafaring traditions”.

New-born Bertram Europe division will make its debut with the sale of a 35’ yacht ordered by Mr Andy Bianchedi, an experienced and passionate sailor and owner, who chose this model built in Carrara in a “limited edition”. The yacht will be delivered in spring 2023.

“I have always loved Bertram’s style, a skilful combination of class, style and performance, which has led this brand to embody a real ‘state of mind’ for countless sea enthusiasts all over the world”, says Andy Bianchedi.

Baglietto:
Boat builder Baglietto specialises in the construction of new planing aluminium yachts ranging between 38 and 50 metres in length and steel & aluminium displacement mega-yachts above 40 metres. Baglietto can currently rely on 2 production sites, in La Spezia (headquarters) and Carrara (operating site). The La Spezia headquarters extend over an area of approximately 35,000 sq. m. Over the last few years, the entire production site has been extensively renovated and enlarged. Three new sheds allowing for the construction of yachts up to 65 m in length were built in La Spezia, as well as new fully-equipped quays, to berth vessels of up to 70 m. The operating site in Carrara, conversely, comprises 2 areas of 5,000 sq. m each. One is used to build military crafts, while in the other – now equipped with 4 new sheds – yachts up to 50 m in length are built. Baglietto’s activities are set to grow considerably, not only with regard to the construction of new pleasure vessels, but also in the military sector, with the BAGLIETTO NAVY brand, under which 2 crafts for the Italian Navy are currently under construction.

Bertram Yachts
Bertram Yachts was established in1960, when Dick Bertram – a yacht broker, an offshore sailor and a powerboats racer – built the first Bertram yacht, the 31’ Moppie. Conceived to replicate the DEEP-V hull that had smashed all records at the Miami–Nassau motorboat Ocean Race in 1960, the Bertram 31 was the first in a line of sport fishing boats up to 80’ in length, which would soon be widely recognized for its excellent cruising and sea-keeping features in rough-sea conditions. The company and its legend grew steadily thanks to many worthy models, including the Bertram 28, the 46 and the 54, which left their mark in the world of fishing. In 2015 Bertram was purchased by the Group led by Beniamino Gavio.
